Should church be the one place we go to avoid politics? Most of our politics are informed by the world, but a Christian’s view of politics must be informed by the Kingdom of God. Politics was unavoidable for the people of God throughout biblical history. Generation after generation of God’s people in the Bible lived in the shadow of an oppressive empire. How do we live faithfully and represent King Jesus in the midst of political conflict? The goal of the church was never to avoid politics, but to engage in the political sphere on behalf of King Jesus. What does it mean to embrace a political theology that looks more like the Kingdom of God and less like the kingdom of this world?
